Clean sport, integrity and fair play — the commitment of the National Shooting Sport Federation
The National Shooting Sport Federation of the Republic of Moldova (FSNT) joins the national awareness campaign launched by the National Anti-Doping Agency (ANAD), together with the National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOS), to promote integrity in sport and prevent doping and the manipulation of sports competitions.
Why clean sport matters
Clean sport is the foundation of sports education. The way we relate to the rules, to competition, and to our own discipline shapes attitudes that extend far beyond the field of play. A key goal of the fight against doping is to protect athletes from the risk of unintentional doping — often caused not by intent, but by contaminated nutritional supplements or a lack of information.
We should also not forget the cost of losing integrity: the Republic of Moldova has gone home without medals from international competitions.
The values of the spirit of sport
The World Anti-Doping Code requires doping prevention programs to be values-based, not merely rule-based. Among these values:
- Ethics, fair play and honesty — victory only has value when achieved through fair means.
- Health — practicing sport correctly protects, rather than undermines, the health of the athlete and of others.
- Excellence in performance — improving results through hard work and rule-following, not shortcuts.
- Character and education — the ability to accept a decision you disagree with builds self-control.
- Teamwork, dedication and respect — toward teammates, opponents, officials and spectators alike.
- Respect for laws and rules — written rules are binding, but the spirit of sport also calls for respecting the unwritten ones.
- Courage, community and solidarity — mutual support among athletes contributes to shared success, on and off the range.
The CNOS Code of Ethics
The National Olympic and Sports Committee has approved and put into effect a Code of Ethics, a document that sets standards of conduct for everyone involved in sporting activity — athletes, coaches, officials and support personnel. The Code promotes integrity, transparency, mutual respect, and a zero-tolerance policy toward competition manipulation, conflicts of interest and corruption.

FSNT will ensure that all its members are informed of the Code’s provisions, during training camps, competitions and other activities organized by the federation.
Anti-doping education — the ADEL courses
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) provides the ADEL (Anti-Doping Education and Learning) platform, with free modules tailored to each role: international- or national-level athletes, coaches, medical staff, parents. ADEL certification is not permanent — the list of prohibited substances is updated every year, which is why WADA recommends refresher courses roughly two years after initial certification.
The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has built ADEL directly into its own requirements: athletes included in the Registered Testing Pool are automatically part of the ISSF Education Pool and must complete the corresponding ADEL modules. In addition, as a condition of competing, every ISSF athlete signs a consent form agreeing to comply with the anti-doping rules and to submit to testing.
FSNT’s recommendation for athletes, coaches and support personnel:
- check whether you already have an ADEL account and whether your certification is still valid;
- complete (or renew) the course corresponding to your role — athlete, coach or medical staff;
- keep your certificate, as it may be requested for nomination to ISSF competitions.
The federation’s commitment
Together with ANAD, FSNT will:
- place informational materials (banners, posters) at official competitions organized under the federation’s auspices;
- publish and share the CNOS Code of Ethics on its official channels;
- ensure ongoing communication with athletes and support personnel about the values of clean sport and anti-doping obligations;
- cooperate with ANAD in implementing the National Testing Plan and in reporting any suspected violation of anti-doping regulations.
